I hate how this business works. I'm about to clear the
air about satellite TV deals. I sell these products but I have to tell you it's
a case of "out-of-control marketing." Here is all that you really need to know:
DirecTV
and Dish
Network are the "Coke & Pepsi" of the satellite TV business.
Dish Network is slightly less expensive.
Both services are EXCELLENT. Check the J.D. Powers web site for
comprehensive reviews. Both services rank far higher than cable.
They both have deals that are extremely difficult to understand. Very few
people order the base package. If you want a good selection of channels, be
prepared to pay at least $50/month.
Are the offers really FREE? Not without a few strings attached. Most of the
"free offers" are really rebates. Only expect the rebate after some payment
commitment.
The deals change every month - but they really stay the same! Some
months they change the terms and make it seem like you'll get "3 months free" -
but they backload the deal. Don't wait for a better deal - it really stays the
same!
